2015 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for TO&E.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,300 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 55 trips to carry that many people.

Thanks for a great year! ūüôā

‚ÄúThe more that you read, the more things you will know….‚ÄĚ

‚ÄúThe more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!‚ÄĚ -Dr. Seuss

The Lord knows I’m an unbelievably¬†busy person. ¬†With all of the craziness I pursue (I’m truly a glutton for punishment), I find myself struggling to find time for one of my all-time favourite pastimes: ¬†reading. ¬†That’s why my 2015 Reading Challenge has become a part of my 101 in 1,001 list, instead of a year-long endeavour.

That being said, I’m hoping to remedy this in the coming year (new year, new me and all of that). ¬†I’m a firm believer that definitive goals are necessary for successful goals, so I’m up for sharing my steps for just that.

Allow for some leeway. ¬†One issue I ran into with the initial challenge was getting stuck in a sort of rut. ¬†When I came across a new book that interested me, I felt guilty for wanting to read it just because it wasn’t part of the list I’d made up! ¬†This makes my goal of 101 books (though more generic) far more attainable.

Consider productive reading. ¬†While reading is inherently enjoyable, not all works you pick up have to be for pleasure! ¬†I find myself reading for class all of the time— once I remind myself that it’s a built-in opportunity to read, it’s a lot less daunting! ¬†The same concept is true when I buy a book like Kon Mari’s¬†the life-changing magic of tidying up. ¬†By reading it, I’m improving an aspect of my life. ¬†How can I deny myself the time to do that?

Ask for recommendations! ¬†I find that when a friend or family member suggests I read a book, I’m both more excited to read it and more likely to finish it in a timely manner. ¬†The thrill of discussing it with them after is amazing motivation and a great way to strengthen relationships!

Find books made into movies. ¬†I will only let myself watch a movie made from a book if I’ve read the book prior (with a few minor exceptions). If I’m really looking forward to seeing the film, I’ll definitely want to finish the book!

Remember why you want to read. ¬†For me, reading was my first love. ¬†It’s never lost that magic for me, and I want to experience that as much as I can. ¬†Whatever your reasoning, keeping your goal in sight will keep you on track.

Now, time to put these steps into action! ¬†ūüôā

Back Again!

Hello, lovely readers!

Missed me? ¬†I know I’ve missed you!

It’s taken a while, but I’m finally caught up on my 30-Day (well….) Writing Challenge and the¬†“I Love Fall!” tag!

Between a difficult semester (Thank you, Astrophysics!), a plethora of medical issues, endless stress, a whole lot of freelancing, and, finally, the holidays, I’ve been painfully scarce. ¬†With 2016 on its way, I promise to improve!

That being said, enjoy this picture of my wonderful Cooper, and I hope you’re looking forward to the return of TO&E as much as I am!

“I Love Fall!”

I was tagged by Jazmin of¬† live laugh… LOVE YOUR TWENTIES¬†to take part in the “I love fall” tag. ¬†Though it’s being posted on the final day of the official autumn¬† a few days into winter (thanks, migraine), know that I don’t take it any less seriously.

Fall is truly my favourite season!  My birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and everything in between, hoodies, scarves, and boots accompany me through the best of the seasons.

Without further ado….

1.  Favourite Fall Lip Product

Not unlike the lovely T-Swift, a red lip is part of my go-to Style, especially as the air gets colder!

2.  Favourite Drink for Fall

As my amazing first-year roommate was well-aware, apple cider is the way to go come fall.

3.  Favourite Fall Nail Polish

Most of the time, you’ll see me with a “plain” clear polish. ¬†I love it because it’s so versatile! ¬†

4.  Favourite Fall Candle

Much to my dismay, I can’t have candles in the dorm. ¬†That being said, I love this air freshener, year round!

5.  Haunted House, Haunted Hay Ride, or Haunted Corn Maze

How about a haunted battlefield?

6.  Favourite Scarf/Accessory for Fall

Paired with another red lip and my trusty best friend, a polka-dot scarf completes any ensemble!

7.  Favourite Candy

One of the wonders of the accidentally-vegan snack world.

8.  Favourite Horror Movie

I’ve recently become quite the horror movie enthusiast, but this is one of the few I’ve been able to rewatch! Hard to beat Mr. King.

9.  Favourite Blush for Fall

A natural blush, of course! From the cold, surprise, or sheer joy, nothing tops the real thing.

10.  Favourite Thing About Fall

Thanks to Thanksgiving and (sometimes) the start of Holiday Break,

Now, due to my unfortunate timing, tags become difficult.  The cure?  Answer for winter, my dears!
